THE MOONDREAMER
As a recovering perfectionist, my art isn't about perfection anymore.
It has become wild, organic, alive in some way.
It's about the textures, the color ways, stillness and flow, light and shadow and everything in between.
But first of all it's about energy.
They are mirrors of the soul, the mind, and the universe.
Merged with my love for details, my art creates balance between order, regularity, symmetry; and chaos, wildness, freedom.
Art isn't just about how it looks like,
it's about how it Feels like.
So let's explore the textures of this 'MoonDreamer' wall hanging ..
The spiral has a stainless steel wire on the inside, which you can't see but you feel how it's bouncing when you touch it. Further down as well we have some of that wire wrapped in hemp cord, but just to keep this wavy shape around those shiny polished labradorites.
I've added lots of natural cords of cotton and hemp and opened them up for the 'fluffy flow effect', to let them dance freely and wildly in the wind. Some are a little scratchy, some are really soft, some have some knots along the way.
As a contrast to that we've got this crescent moon made of repurposed vintage embroidery frames wrapped in cotton cord macrame, which reminds a bit of the strings of some kind of ancient instrument.
Then there's the driftwood at the top, solid but so freaking soft and smooth that it almost feels like it would be melting in your hands.
And we have lots of little details with lots of different textures; the polished labradorites just beside the untreated wooded beads, the faceted amazonite beads, the natural coral fossil with its ruff textured surface, and this incredibly shiny, raw edgy selenite that almost seems like it has its own light glowing within ..
